Deciding the best horror movies on Netflix is a difficult task and of course comes down to a lot of subjective opinions, but we rounded them up anyway. But we wanted to provide a more objective guide to the world's biggest streaming service's most-watched horror features, so we revisited aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes (opens in a new tab) .
Of course, just because a movie is highly rated on RT doesn't guarantee that all audiences will enjoy it. But these nine movies are acclaimed and a great place to start if you're looking for a new horror movie to watch on Netflix tonight.

Gerald's Game (2017)
Adapted from Stephen King's novel of the same name, Gerald's Game is a psychological horror thriller starring Carla Gugino as a woman in a nightmare situation. After her husband's sudden heart attack, Jessie (Guggino) is handcuffed to a bed in a remote cabin.
He doesn't have the key to unlock the cuffs and no one is going to save him. He must find a way to escape his ordeal while battling visions of his painful past and distorted personality that may or may not be true.
If you weren't convinced, Gerald's Game was written and directed by Mike Flanagan, the man behind Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass horror movies.

Camera (2018)
The 2018 crime-watching horror film is part chilling and biting psychological satire about toxic online culture.
The 90-minute film focuses on sexy webcam girl Alice (Madeleine Brewer), who sees her following dwindle after a rival named Lola invades the picture. There's only a slight twist, the new camera looks like Alice, and soon the lines between reality and the Internet begin to blur in increasingly uncomfortable ways.
Naturally, Brewer is the star of the show in the dual roles of Alice and Lola, but her creative editing is also noteworthy.

Following (2015)
One of the most popular horror films of the last decade, The Following revolves around a simple premise. it focuses on a creature who consistently achieves its goals.
But it didn't hide in a corner or under the bed, it just kept going. And that makes this supernatural power even scarier, because no matter how far you run, it will follow you.
The only way to escape this curse is to have sex with other people to continue the nightmare, and that's an impossible choice for protagonist Jay (Micah Monroe). Directed reliably and flawlessly by David Robert Mitchell, It Follows is a modern horror masterpiece that will be talked about for another decade.

Raw (2016)
This French-language horror film has a slightly violent premise about a vegetarian veterinary student (played by Garence Marillier) who is forced to eat meat as part of university rituals. He soon developed a craving for raw meat and didn't want to stop at just animal flesh.
This 2016 film was highly controversial upon release due to its graphic content, but there's a lot to cover here, assuming you can handle the gore. Certainly more experimental than the other films on this list, Raw is still an interesting film.

His House (2020)
His home dazzled attendees at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, and more than three years later, his illustrious reputation continues to grow.
The film tells the story of a South Sudanese refugee couple (played by Unmi Mosaku and Sope Dirisu) who flee their war-torn home and move to England, but while they try to adjust to their new life in this foreign country, evil villains. to hide Enter the shadows and their little princess may be in danger.
With great direction from Remy Weeks (who also wrote the screenplay), solid performances from the entire cast (Dr. Who's Matt Smith had a small role), and plenty of scares, Her House is a horror blockbuster.

Under the Shadow (2016)
Set in 1980s Iran, Under the Shadow is a Persian-language horror film. It focuses on a mother and daughter who struggle to deal with real-life fears in post-revolutionary Tehran, and if that's not tough enough, their home begins to be haunted by a mysterious crime.
Babak Anwar's directorial debut Under the Shadow is perhaps the scariest film on this list, with moments that will literally send shivers down your spine.

Silence (2016)
With a twist on home invasion movies, Hush is another great horror film from the mind of Mike Flanagan. It follows a deaf and mute writer (Kate Siegel) who lives a lonely life in a beautiful forest, but her peaceful happiness is shattered by the arrival of a masked killer.
A quiet film that takes its time to build real tension, Hush is gripping from start to finish. It's the shortest movie on this list at just over 80 minutes, so if you're looking for a horror movie to watch on a weeknight, this might be what you're looking for.

1922 (2017)
Another Netflix adaptation of a Stephen King novel, 1922 is a serious horror drama centered around a rancher (Thomas Jane) who plots to kill his wife (Molly Parker). He successfully involves their teenage son (Dylan Schmidt) in an act of violence, but their evil plot has unforeseen consequences. Boasting a trio of solid performances and a tense yet gripping central story, 1922 isn't the scariest film on this list, but it probably sticks with you the longest.

Little Evil (2017)
Looking for a Netflix horror movie that isn't as scary and silly as it is? Then Little Evil is just what you're looking for. This film combines horror and comedy in a very entertaining package, with Adam Scott as Gary and Evangeline Lilly as Samantha, a happily married couple. There's the small matter of Lucas (Owen Atlas), Samantha's son from another relationship, who might be the Antichrist. And as you might expect, Gerry isn't thrilled about having Satan as a stepchild.
