An Astonishing 16 Of The Oscar Acting Spots Went To FirstTime Nominees

The nominations for the 95th Academy Awards were announced on Tuesday, with 11 nominations led by plenty of action thrillers everywhere .

The four main stars of this film - Michelle Yeoh, Ke Hai Guan, Stephanie Hsu and Jamie Lee Curtis - were nominated in various acting categories. Each of them was nominated for an Oscar for the first time. While Xu is relatively new, Yeo, Guan and Curtis have been performing for decades, so their recognition on Tuesday seems to be enough.

But they are not the first actors to bow out this year.

16 of the 20 nominations for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actor received their first Academy Award nominations.

In fact, the best actor category consists of five men who received their first nominations. The oldest of these newcomers is 73-year-old Bill Nighy, who received his first career nomination. The youngest is 26-year-old Paul Mescal, who plays in the Aftersun club. Other actors in this category are Austin Butler ( Elvis ), Colin Farrell ( Banshee Inisherino ) and Brendan Fraser ( Keith ).

Other acting categories include Ana de Armas (" Blonde" ), Andrea Riseborough ( " Leslie"), Brian Tyree Henry ("The Passage"), Barry Keoghan ( "Inisher's Banshee" ), Hong Chau ("The Whale") and Carey. Condon ( "The Madness of Inisher" ) received his first Oscar nomination on Tuesday.

The four previously nominated actors are two-time winner Cate Blanchett, who received her eighth nomination for her role as Taro; Fabelmans star Michelle Williams, who has been nominated five times and has yet to win; Angela Bassett, who received her second nomination for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , was previously nominated for 1994 's What's Love Got To Do ; and Judd Hirsch, who was also in The Fabelmans and was nominated for an Ordinary People Award in 1981.
