Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell will star in the upcoming live-action remake.
The actor will star alongside Silence of the Lambs star Anthony Hopkins in Locked , a remake of the 4x4 crime thriller.
The new screenplay is written by Michael Arlen Ross, known for his work on Paradise Lost, The Castaways and The Fallen .

According to Locked's synopsis , the film is "an intense character-driven thriller about a thief who breaks into a luxury SUV and falls into an elaborate and deadly trap set by a mysterious figure".
The film will be produced by “The Evil Dead” and “ Spider-Man ” director Sam Raimi and “ Nightbook ” director David Yarovesky.
Raimi told Deadline that Yarovesky was the first choice to direct the project after the two worked together.

"The script was so good and he's such a good communicator that we were able to have Anthony Hopkins, the greatest actor of all time for our generation," she said.
“Glen's character has a soul that slowly emerges as the film progresses.
"It seems like he's just a thief, someone who doesn't care, but as the movie goes on you realize he has a wife and a son that he loves and that he was wronged, and that's just the experience it allows him to reflect on how he treated her and lived his life with her."

Glen recently played Lt. Jake "The Hangman" Ceres on the Top Gun: Maverick series alongside Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm, and Miles Teller .
In a recent interview with IndieWire , she revealed that Tom gave her key advice for the role, urging her to "lean into the fake".
"Sometimes you can fall into the trap of wanting to be in front of the camera. And in a movie like this, where you know there's going to be a lot of eyes, you don't want to be Draco Malfoy... But Tom advised me, "You have to really work hard to make it work. the end," he said.
“Everyone in the film questions their own abilities. You are the only one not to. So if you say excuses, the movie doesn't work."
