David Harbour Plays A Spirit Haunting A Familys New Home In The Netflix Movie We Have A Ghost

When director Christopher Landon first read Jeff Manau's Ernest , the short story by Jeff Manau on which Landon's new film We Have a Ghost is based, he recalls feeling "a surge of inspiration" and feeling that the story had an alien quality .

“It was an opportunity for me to make a film that would really be a tribute and a declaration of love to my childhood,” Netflix explained in an interview accompanying the film’s press kit, which features the streamer, released on Friday.

Plot : Written and directed by Landon, We Have a Ghost introduces viewers to the Presley family as they search for a new life in Chicago. They walk into a dusty repair shop with a surprise: a ghost in the attic named Ernest (played by David Harbour).

Despite Ernest's best efforts to scare away his teenage son Kevin (whom Netflix describes as aloof and obsessed with music), he forms a connection with the ghost of this eccentric '70s boy who haunts his family's house. Following the official synopsis of the film from Netflix:

“Meanwhile, Kevin’s kind but stern father, Frank (Anthony Mackie), tries to take advantage of Ernest by making him a social media sensation. When Ernest's video with Frank goes viral and gets the world's attention, the family meets with Dr. Leslie Monroe. (Tig Notaro), a real paranormal scientist, he asks his former boss, Deputy Director of the CIA Arnold Shipley (Steve Coulter), to revive a secret program aimed at capturing a ghost.

From there, many curiosities (as well as reporters and government agents) flock to the Presley home. Kevin and another outcast, his neighbor Joy, played by Isabella Russo, are determined to solve the mysteries of Ernest's past and give him the right solution before it's too late.

“I hope people step away from the movie and keep their loved ones a little closer,” Landon continued in his interview. “What really shines in the movie is that you never know what twists and turns your life might take. And you may not know the people you might lose along the way. But also just appreciate the people around you.

Other movies listed to watch on Netflix

On the other hand , "We Have a Ghost" debuted in the middle of a trial series of films from the re-release giant.

For example, take a look at Netflix's Top 10 US Movies Today list and you'll only see two Netflix originals out of many Netflix originals: the new romantic comedy Your Place or Mine, starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, and Unforgettable.
