It's difficult for a character to make a lasting impression in such a vast universe by appearing in just one film, but few have succeeded. Some are ranked among the best players in the franchise as a whole.
Here are five iconic characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who made a lasting impression in just one movie:
Justin Hammer (Iron Man 2)
Villains in movies are often the best characters because their story usually resolves when the hero defeats them. One of them is Justin Hammer from Iron Man 2 (2010), although he is probably not Tony Stark's toughest opponent.
Hammer is a very interesting character because he has no real threat. He considered himself Tony's enemy, but he was no match for him. This sets it apart from many opponents and makes Sam Rockwell's iconic image stand out. He only appears in one movie, but he does appear in the All Hail the King One-shot.
Quentin Beck/Mystero (Spider-Man: Far From Home)
One of the few complaints about the MCU's previous two Spider-Man movies was that the antagonist had too many ties to Tony Stark. That's a strong point, but it doesn't take away from how great these villains are, especially Quentin Beck, better known as Mysterio.
Wanting to avenge Tony's humiliation, Mysterio uses primitive technology to create a giant illusion of him as the hero. The real polish of the character is in the scenes with Peter, who acts as a friend and mentor, as well as a formidable enemy that defines the identity of Peter Parker.
Hela (Thor: Ragnarok)
Thor: Ragnarok , released in 2017, was widely seen as an improvement over the first two films in the franchise. Hela is one of Thor and Loki's adversary and sister. As a result, he quickly became personally involved with many famous people.
While some of Hella's shots in the film look a bit next to Sakar's wild adventures, there's no denying that Cate Blanchett is a goddess of death. He looks rude and it shows on screen. She wins, thinking that Hela is the real threat.
Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker (Spider-Man: No Way Home)
It's amazing to see Peter Parker on the same screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home , played by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland . While Tobey's solo appearance in the MCU was good, Garfield stole the show as Peter Parker 3.
First, they had some great moments, including MJ throwing bread at her, teasing young pastor Peter Tobey, and expressing his love for another Peters. Her real moment of fame was when MJ was on the brink of death, and she managed to save his life in a way Gwen Stacy had never known years before.
Nijadaka/Eric "Killmonger" Stevens (Black Panther)
Not only is Killmonger an incredibly unique character, he's probably the best antagonist in the history of the franchise, aside from Thanos. In Black Panther, Killmonger sacrificed hundreds if not thousands of people to get to Wakanda and complete his grand plan.
He wants to use Wakanda's technology to liberate oppressed black people everywhere. Although Killmonger takes it too seriously, T'Challa ends up following the instructions because they look good. The ending is the immortal "Bury me in the water with my ancestors who jumped overboard because they understood that death is better than slavery."
