Freddie Prinze Jr. almost quit acting after a bad audition on I Know What You Did last summer, in which he co-starred with now-wife Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Although the movie secured her the role, Jim Gillespie's 1997 teen horror movie didn't come easy.
"It was very scary," Prince Junior said in a TooFab video interview posted Tuesday while promoting the podcast for his newly launched horror film.
"I almost left the cinema. I almost got on the plane and went home. I just finished, I've had enough," he said.
The "She's All That" star said Gillespie made it clear that he did not date Prince Junior in the film.
“I had moments when the director gave me psychotic remarks: 'Don't leave your mouth open. ' When you do that, it looks ridiculous,” said the younger prince.
Gillespie, according to Prince Jr., wanted Jeremy Sisto, who starred in 1995's The Clueless, but Prince Jr. convinced him to cast him as Ray Bronson.
(Gillespie) didn't hide it. There's no passive aggression, which I hate," said Prince Jr., 47. "I don't want you in this movie," he said very clearly. So when's your first job? Yeah, you hear those words. It's Destroy you, man."
USA TODAY has reached out to a Gillespie representative for comment.

As a chef: Freddie Prinze Jr. is everything
According to him, he could have gone back to culinary school after dropping out of acting, but he decided not to give up.
The Prince Jr. said he appreciated his experience working with Gillespie "oddly enough".
Asghar Amir said, "I am here to fight for it. Because of this pain and stuff, it was hard for me to finish work every day. This movie hurts me every day. I love this work."
This is not the first time Prince Jr. has complained that his colleagues want him "out".
In 2014, the real-life prince spoke to ABC News about his experience working with 24 star Kiefer Sutherland.
“I did 24, it was unbelievable. I hated every moment,” the actor told ABC News. "Kiefer was the most unprofessional person in the world. I don't talk shit, I was telling him to his face, I think everyone who worked with him said... After that he went bankrupt. I wanted to go. So I stopped."
