February 1

  • Silence of the Lambs (1991): Psychological thriller starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. The FBI sends an agent (Foster) to interview a psychotic inmate, who may provide clues as to what a serial killer might do when he's on the loose.
  • The Eighth Class (2018): Bo Burnham's coming-of-age film. A 13-year-old girl tries to survive the accident in the last week of her eighth year.
  • Unbroken (1984): A musical starring Kevin Bacon about a city boy (Bacon) who finds himself in a Midwestern town where dancing is forbidden.

February 7

  • Everybody Breathes (2022): Documentary and Oscar nominee
  • Edge of Tomorrow (2014): Science fiction film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. After aliens attack Earth, an inexperienced military officer (Cruise) is killed and ends up in the Time War.
  • Empire of Light (2022) : Drama directed by Sam Mendes. It's about the power of human connection in times of crisis.

In "Barbara," a young woman (Georgina Campbell) travels to Detroit for a job interview and discovers that her Airbnb has been booked twice. She doesn't immediately trust anyone else in the house (and that's easy - actor Bill Skarsgård starred as the terrifying killer clown Pennywise in the It movies). But of course you never predict what will happen next. Savage may be among the best horror movies of 2022.

Inishira's Banshee (2022)

Set on an island off the coast of Ireland, Banshee is a dark, funny and exciting drama that is always a pleasure to watch. It's about what happens after Colm (Brendan Gleeson) suddenly decides to destroy his lifelong friend Padraic. Farrell and Gleeson also star in Martin McDonagh's directorial debut Bruges.

Father of the Bride (2022)

HBO Max's "Father of the Bride" follows a Cuban-American family whose traditional patriarch, Billy, meets a boy who struggles to accept the unexpected news from his oldest daughter that she wants to marry him and move in with him. The film is the third adaptation of Edward Streeter's 1949 novel of the same name, starring Andy Garcia and singer Gloria Estefan.

French Delivery (2021)

Step into another epic and epic film from director Wes Anderson. The author of Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel returns for a stunning new story - three to be exact. Titled "A Love Letter to Journalists," French Dispatch takes viewers through three different stories straight from the pages of a fiction magazine. If you missed this very first episode when it hit theaters last October, now is the time to catch up on the epic story.

Set in the '80s, 8-Bit Christmas is a playful comedy set in the '80s about young Jake Doyle, a devoted 10-year-old boy desperate for a Nintendo. In the film, the whimsical tale is narrated by Neil Patrick Harris, the elder Jake, who remembers his earlier efforts to secure the game console. Yes, the story has a Christmas theme, but Jake's unwavering commitment to his mission and what he learns along the way make this fun feature a must-watch after the holidays.

Meryl Streep plays an eccentric writer in Steven Soderbergh's comedy. What else do you need to know? If you want to know more: Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Alice Hughes (Strep) struggles to finish her next book while being pursued by her literary agent (Gemma Chan). She goes on a cruise with the old friends who inspired her most famous work. The tension is high. It looks great - Soderbergh uses clear, natural lighting - and much of the dialogue is improved. Watch Dianne Wiest, Candice Bergen, Lucas Hedges and the rest of the cast have fun.

Want to see Austin Butler dance in pink? What about the other 89 costumes the actor wore in this amazing 2 hour 40 minute movie? Directed by Baz Luhrmann ("Moulin Rouge", "The Great Gatsby") comes the epic and touching biography of the King of Rock and Roll. If you haven't seen it in cinemas yet, now is your chance to grab a seat in the crowd.

Steven Soderbergh has produced this epic tech thriller set during the Covid-19 pandemic. Seattle technician Angela, played by neon blue-haired Zoe Kravitz, suffers from agoraphobia, a fear that keeps her from walking through the front door of her apartment. But when she finds disturbing footage at work, she has to take drastic action. Kimi is a polished thriller with attractive cinematography, a good score and a protagonist you will enjoy.

After being bullied in high school, 16-year-old Vada Cavell must navigate friendships, school, and relationships with her family. Falling Out deals with serious issues through realistic dialogue and empathy for its characters. Starring Jenna Ortega as Vada and Maddie Ziegler as her new friend Mia Reid, this feature will keep you glued to the screen for the full 90 minutes.

What can we say about the sensational Japanese drama that drove my car? Well, it won the Oscar for Best International Film at the 2022 Academy Awards. Even a three-hour movie that people sit and watch all the time, that says a lot to me. But seriously, Driving My Car is a powerful film that explores loss and rejection. If you missed it before the Oscars, watch it now.

Taking us back to before the sisters were household names, the film gives us glimpses of their time growing up in Compton and their time on the seedy courses with their father, Richard Williams (Will Smith). Confident that his daughters will succeed, Richard works tirelessly to ensure their star potential is recognized by professional coaches. A complex man with a wonderful personality, Richard is fascinating and his unwavering faith in Venus and Serena is inspiring.

Especially when The Last Duel hit theaters in October, it didn't get much attention. But now on HBO Max, viewers can watch Adam Driver and Matt Damon wrestle from the comfort of their couches. Directed by Ridley Scott, The Last Duel is a historical drama set in the Middle Ages, with an excellent cast that includes Jodie Comer and Ben Affleck. If any of these lists pique your interest and you're willing to stay here for two and a half hours, put down your popcorn and watch this movie.

A rare (to this day) 90-minute film, the Mexican-American drama Son of Kings will stay with you long after the movies. This deep character study tells the story of two brothers who are changed in different ways by a childhood illness. In magical realism, this is a fairy tale about how to go through life - butterfly motifs are strong, biologist Mendel returned to his hometown surrounded by majestic forests of royal butterflies.

Last Night in Soho (2021)

Dreaming of a great movie night? Last Night in Soho, the latest film from Edgar Wright (Baby Driver, Shaun of the Dead). The film begins when his best friend Ellie (Thomasin McKenzie) attends a fashion college in London. The dream eventually transports her to the 60s, where she meets a popular singer named Sandy (Anya Taylor-Joy). Get ready for mysterious, scary and amazing neon lights.

A new Steven Soderbergh movie? Hasn't he been the greatest director since Erin Brockovich, Ocean's Eleven and most recently Logan Lucky? Twisted, interesting and desperate characters fill this crime thriller set in 1950s Detroit. When a seemingly simple job spirals out of control, a team of crime-fighters must work together to figure out what's really going on. Check out the incredible cast: Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Jon Hamm and Amy Semetz. While the plot is a bit convoluted and some can't get past the fishy cinematography, Soderbergh's humor and suspenseful direction make this a fun night.

Listen to this HBO documentary about mind-blowing gravity-defying skateboard tricks, a time capsule of the '80s skateboarding scene, and a version of Hawk you've probably never seen before. The famous athlete is known as a calm, reckless but determined person who has developed his own style of skateboarding. Hawke's tenacity in skateboarding, as great as anything in this movie, is to be admired. Get ready for an unforgettable trip.

Roadrunner: The Anthony Bourdain Movie (2021)

This film is about the famous author, chef and TV host Anthony Bourdain with documentary filmmaker Morgan Neville, who also worked on the film Won't You Be My Neighbor? and the Oscar-winning film Twenty Feet From Fame. Through interviews with people who knew Bourdain, as well as his friends, former partners and longtime colleagues, the documentary chronicles his career, relationships and personal struggles. Bourdain fans and those less familiar with the star are sure to enjoy this two-hour glimpse into his life.

Robert Pattinson plays Batman in this superhero movie directed by Matt Reeves. Set in the perpetually gray and rain-covered Gotham City, the film begins Bruce Wayne's quest to find a mysterious killer. On the way, he meets Catwoman, played by Zoe Kravitz. Excellent direction and storytelling creates a very dark mystery.

Extreme violence abounds in this DC film about supervillains who agree to help the US government in exchange for prison time. Your mission is to destroy something called Project Starfish on the island of Corta Maltas. With an all-star cast that includes Margot Robbie, Idris Elba and John Cena, Suicide Squad 2021 is a bloodbath of dark fun unlike anything you'd normally see in a superhero movie. Steven Spielberg's reimagining of the classic musical has made a triumphant debut on HBO Max. The film received seven Academy Award nominations, and Ariana DeBose won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Anita. Young Tony (Ansel Elgort) and Maria (Rachel Zeigler) cross paths at a high school dance and begin a forbidden romance that escalates tensions between two rival factions. The rousing musical numbers and stunning production design transport the audience to 1950s New York. The second half of the film turns dark, but with Spielberg at the helm, they take it all in stride.

The Heights stars Anthony Ramos (you might know him as John Lawrence in Hamilton) as Usnavi, a bodega owner struggling to keep his business afloat when a heat wave hits Washington Heights. Secretly in love with his neighbor Vanessa (Melissa Barrera), Usnavi dreams of moving out of the saloon and neighborhood, serving the residents of Washington Heights with love, lottery tickets and a healing coffee shop. Amidst choreographed swirls and fireworks, In the Heights is a search for the meaning of wealth inequality, immigration, class and culture.
