Although it decided not to give away the stars of season 6, there were two lucky ones who received rosy first impressions in season 7 (more on that below). This is not to say that the first impression of the rose is weightless. Sean Lowe was the closest the ex-bachelor had to making a first impression on his future wife. The Texas native returned in season 17 and handed out red canes to 12 women, one of whom was his current wife Katherine Giudici , before his first elimination event. "There was something really quirky and fun about him that I loved," the Seattle native said after stepping out of the limo.
The couple married in 2014 and had three children together, but Sean barely made it through The Bachelor because he was suspicious of their relationship. "While we were talking, I put my hand on her knee to send a message: I'm interested in you," Sean wrote of Catherine in her book The Right Reasons during a roller derby team meeting. "But it didn't pay off. She acted nervous and, to be honest, a bit strange. 'Do I like this girl?'
Even later in his travels, he wondered if they were fit enough to last long. "I really liked Kathryn, but she was a vegetarian food blogger from Birkenstocks in Seattle," he explained. "I was a carnivore and I worked in the oil and gas industry. That's from the Filipino culture. My family was from Texas. How could that work?
When it came to the last rose, Sean followed his intuition. "I could imagine saying goodbye to [ Desiree Hartsock ], but I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Catherine," he said.
